Training program for guides in a controlled trial of psilocybin treatment for depression

Updated

Abstract

Essence

A 15-week facilitator training program for psilocybin depression trials produced modest skill gains but left many nurses wanting more practical preparation.

Evidence

In a training evaluation nested within an ongoing randomized controlled trial, nine nurses provided subjective feedback and completed pre/post standardized role-plays scored with MITI, showing a significant gain in 1 of 12 variables and medium to large effect sizes for 6 measures.

Caveat

The sample was small and the objective gains were measured only in role-play, so readiness for real treatment delivery remains uncertain.
