Flavonoids from Shenrong Guben Huanshao Pill may improve age-related mitochondrial problems by changing metabolism through NDUFV2 and LDHB

Updated

Abstract

Shenrong Guben Huanshao Pill (SRW) may alleviate cellular senescence by improving mitochondrial function.

  • Mitochondrial dysfunction is identified as a significant factor contributing to cellular senescence.
  • SRW improves mitochondrial function by increasing the expression of a key protein, NDUFV2, involved in energy production.
  • The pill also reduces mitochondrial dysfunction caused by lactate accumulation by regulating the enzyme lactate dehydrogenase B (LDHB).
  • Several flavonoids found in SRW, including myricetin, luteolin, and gamma-mangostin, show potential anti-senescence effects.
  • Preliminary findings suggest that SRW could serve as a safer natural alternative to traditional anti-senescence drugs.
