Abstract

After 4 weeks, γT3 accumulated in adipose tissue and reduced weight gain in mice on a high-fat diet.

  • γT3 treatment led to decreased plasma levels of fasting glucose, insulin, and proinflammatory cytokines compared to high-fat diet-only mice.
  • Improved glucose tolerance and enhanced insulin signaling were observed in adipose tissue of mice fed γT3.
  • Significant reductions in macrophage-specific markers and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 suggested decreased recruitment of adipose tissue macrophages.
  • In human adipocytes, γT3 activated insulin-stimulated glucose uptake and suppressed inflammation-related signaling pathways.
  • LPS-mediated polarization of M1 macrophages was significantly reduced by γT3 treatment.
