Geniposide (GP) improved cardiac function and reduced fibrosis in mice post-myocardial infarction.

  • GP diminished apoptosis and suppressed genes related to fibrosis.
  • It enhanced the removal of damaged mitochondria, which helped mitigate oxidative stress.
  • In cardiomyocytes under chronic hypoxia, GP's protective effects depended on the presence of Parkin.
  • GP maintained mitochondrial health and reduced oxidative injury by modulating Parkin activity.
  • Excessive mitophagy was attenuated by GP, contributing to less cardiomyocyte loss and fibrosis.
