Ginsenoside Rg1 improves fertility and reduces ovary damage in a mouse model of early ovarian failure

Updated

Abstract

Ginsenoside Rg1 significantly improved body weight and restored ovarian function in a mouse model of premature ovarian failure induced by d-galactose.

  • Rg1 treatment led to a release of estrous cycle block compared to the d-galactose group.
  • Fertility and ovarian morphology were restored in the Rg1 + d-gal group.
  • Rg1 administration significantly reduced the expression of senescence-associated proteins.
  • The activity of antioxidant enzymes, total superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase, was increased with Rg1 treatment.
  • Levels of pro-inflammatory markers such as interleukin-1β, tumor necrosis factor-α, and interleukin-6 were significantly decreased after Rg1 treatment.
