In this case-control study, lower regulatory T-cell levels and lower expression on those cells were linked to coronary heart disease and more severe .

Evidence

A peripheral-blood case-control analysis of 130 CHD patients and 70 controls found lower Treg and GLP-1R+ Treg proportions in CHD, with multivariable associations for CHD and stenosis severity and modest ROC discrimination (AUC 0.600-0.663).

Caveat

Because this was a blood-based observational case-control study with modest diagnostic performance, the cytokine correlations and GLP-1R pathway findings do not establish causality or therapeutic benefit.
