Safety of Continuing Glucagon-like Peptide 1 Medicines During Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty in 57 Adults

Updated

Abstract

Fifty-seven adults underwent endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty without interruptions to their GLP1-RA medications.

  • No serious adverse events were recorded during the procedures.
  • There were no cases of retained gastric solids, pulmonary aspiration, gastroesophageal regurgitation, or hypoxia.
  • A liquid-only diet for at least 24 hours and fasting for 12 hours before the procedure may allow for uninterrupted GLP1-RA use.
  • Participants included 89.5% women, with a mean age of 44 years and a mean BMI of 40.1 kg/m².
