- Individuals with schizophrenia are at higher risk of weight gain, insulin resistance, and abnormal lipid levels due to antipsychotic medications.
- Clozapine- and olanzapine-based treatments are particularly associated with these cardiometabolic problems.
- Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) may provide a potential treatment option for managing these metabolic side effects.
