Abstract
Co-existing asthma and diabetes mellitus (DM) are common conditions that may be influenced by glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1)-based therapies.
- GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RA) and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors (DPP-4i) may have anti-inflammatory effects.
- The relationship between GLP-1-based therapies and their benefits for patients with both asthma and DM is under discussion.
- Chronic inflammatory diseases, such as asthma, may respond to treatments that target GLP-1 pathways.
