Different weight loss responses to GLP-1 receptor drugs in adults: A review and combined analysis

Essence

GLP-1 receptor agonists produced larger weight loss in women than men but appeared similarly effective across other studied subgroups.

Evidence

A systematic review and random-effects meta-analysis of 41 articles representing 64 RCTs found greater percentage weight loss in women than men in 6 trials with 19,906 patients and no significant heterogeneity by other analyzed characteristics.

Caveat

Several subgroup analyses drew on fewer trials or narrative synthesis, limiting confidence in the absence of heterogeneity for sparsely reported characteristics.
