Differences in gut bacteria of Parkinson’s disease patients in Central Kerala

Updated

Abstract

Seven microbial species are associated with differences in gut microbiota diversity between Parkinson's disease patients and their controls.

  • Significant differences in beta diversity were observed between Parkinson's disease patients and their control group (p = 0.007).
  • Network analysis indicated specific microbial communities were enhanced in either the Parkinson's group or the control group.
  • The findings suggest potential alterations in gut microbiota composition in individuals with Parkinson's disease.
  • The study provides preliminary evidence for gut microbiome changes related to Parkinson's disease in a specific population.
