Hallucinogen-like effects of 25CN-NBOH, a new drug targeting 5-HT2A receptors, in mice

Abstract

25CN-NBOH induced a head twitch response in mice that was lower in magnitude than that of DOI.

  • The head twitch response induced by 25CN-NBOH was blocked by the 5-HT2A antagonist M100907.
  • Administration of 25CN-NBOH attenuated the head twitch response elicited by DOI in a dose-dependent manner.
  • 25CN-NBOH showed a 55% degree of generalization for the DOI training dose in drug discrimination tests.
  • Behavioral effects of 25CN-NBOH were not altered by the 5-HT2C antagonist RS102221.
  • Ketanserin fully substituted in mice trained with M100907, indicating differing receptor interactions.
