Health and COVID-19 reinfection in survivors four years after leaving hospital in Wuhan, China

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Four years after discharge, Wuhan COVID-19 survivors had lower symptom burden, but long covid persisted in 16.7% and reinfection was linked to fatigue.

Evidence

Longitudinal cohort study of 1076 discharged COVID-19 survivors from two Wuhan hospitals using self-reported symptoms and fatigue, anxiety, depression, and respiratory questionnaires.

Caveat

Symptoms and reinfection sequelae were self-reported in a hospital-survivor cohort, so the risk-factor associations do not prove causation or generalize to all infections.
