Nicotinamide Mononucleotide's Protective Effect on Fatty Liver Disease Caused by High-Fat Diet in Mice

Updated

Abstract

Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) administration for 8 weeks significantly reduced body weight and alleviated hepatic steatosis in a high-fat diet mouse model.

  • NMN treatment lowered levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL), triglycerides, total cholesterol, and fasting blood glucose.
  • High-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels increased following NMN intervention.
  • Hepatic expression of PPAR-γ decreased, while levels of HNF4α and SHBG increased with NMN treatment.
  • The findings suggest that NMN may influence hepatic lipid metabolism in the context of high-fat diet-induced fatty liver disease.
