Abstract

SC-E1 inhibited LPS-induced NO secretion and pro-inflammatory cytokine production without affecting cell viability.

  • SC-E1 demonstrated strong anti-oxidant activity in macrophages.
  • The extract suppressed LPS-induced activation of NF-κB and the MAPK pathway.
  • Induction of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) expression was linked to the nuclear translocation of Nrf2.
  • Inhibition of HO-1 diminished the anti-inflammatory effects of SC-E1 on cytokine production.
