Signs of organ aging from regular abdominal CT scans improve disease risk prediction beyond blood tests

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Routine abdominal CT radiomics may add organ-resolved disease risk stratification beyond demographics and selected blood biomarkers.

Evidence

Model-development and prognostic analysis used radiomic features from five abdominal organs in 68,682 CT scans from 32,882 subjects, with focused prevention analyses in adults aged 20-60 years.

Caveat

The strongest relative risk stratification was limited to the 20-60-year stratum, and the incremental comparisons were against routine blood biomarkers rather than all possible clinical predictors.
