- Cognitive and emotional impairments in mice were associated with changes in hippocampal gene expression.
- The diet led to an upregulation of genes such as Btbd16, Il1b, Prlr, Cd24a, and Ak7, while downregulating Casp4.
- Correlation analysis indicated significant relationships between specific gut bacteria and hippocampal gene expression changes.
- Neuroinflammation and neuronal damage in the hippocampus were suggested as mechanisms underlying the observed cognitive deficits.
