Changes in small RNA levels linked to blocking chronic stomach inflammation from turning into stomach cancer by Xianglian Huazhuo formula

Updated

Abstract

Five differentially expressed miRNAs and four target genes were identified in the context of blocking chronic atrophic gastritis from progressing to gastric cancer.

  • Xianglian Huazhuo formula (XLHZ) may increase E-cadherin expression while decreasing transforming growth factor β1, vimentin, and β-catenin levels.
  • XLHZ is associated with inhibited proliferation and migration of chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) cells.
  • XLHZ may induce cell cycle arrest at G0/G1 and G2/M phases and promote apoptosis in CAG cells.
  • Target genes related to miRNAs are enriched in pathways such as Wnt signaling, phospholipase D signaling, and mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling.
  • The expression of specific miRNAs and their target genes could play a role in preventing the progression of CAG to gastric cancer.
