Activating early HIV antibody cells to multiple virus targets at once using mRNA vaccines in mice

Updated

Abstract

Essence

mRNA-LNP germline-targeting HIV immunogens could prime multiple broadly neutralizing antibody precursor classes at once in mouse models.

Evidence

This preclinical mouse study compared coadministered protein and mRNA-LNP immunogens and found that an mRNA-LNP cocktail activated four distinct Env-targeting bnAb precursor classes across precursor frequencies and immunogen doses.

Caveat

The findings are in mouse models and still showed evidence of potential competition, so human implementation remains uncertain and may depend on the immunogen design.
