Abstract

Huang-Lian-Jie-Du Decoction (HLJDD) effectively mitigated cognitive dysfunction in diabetic encephalopathy (DE) mice over 14 weeks.

  • HLJDD normalized glucose metabolic imbalances and repaired neuronal damage in DE mice.
  • The treatment reduced neuroinflammation by decreasing carbonyl stress and deactivating specific brain cells.
  • Metabolomics analysis identified 18 carbonyl compounds with significant differences between DE and control mice.
  • Post-HLJDD treatment, 12 metabolites approached normal levels, suggesting metabolic restoration.
  • HLJDD influenced inflammation and cell death by suppressing pathways associated with AGEs/RAGE/NF-κB.
