Daily sugar level changes and feelings of hunger predict meal times

Updated

Abstract

Glucose concentrations decreased from 2 hours after waking until the first meal in participants consuming two large daily meals.

  • Both feeding patterns showed increasing glucose concentration early each morning.
  • In the small meal group, glucose levels continued to rise throughout the day.
  • Average 24-hour glucose concentration was similar between small meal and large meal groups.
  • In the constant routine, glucose levels were low at the time of previous meals in the large meal group.
  • Hunger scores in the large meal group increased before predicted meal times.
