Updated

Abstract

A total of 154 participants showed improved muscle mass and strength with HMB supplementation.

  • HMB supplementation is associated with a higher skeletal muscle mass index compared to control groups.
  • An increase in handgrip strength was observed in participants receiving HMB compared to those in the control groups.
  • No significant improvement in physical performance, specifically gait speed, was found with HMB supplementation.
  • The overall risk of bias in the included studies was low for 80% of them.
