DNA methylation patterns linked to high blood pressure and inherited biological aging markers in Korean adults

Abstract

A significant association was found between all five epigenetic clocks and hypertension, with DunedinPACE demonstrating the strongest statistical significance (per-standard-deviation OR=1.51, P=1.3×10^-8).

  • Hypertension was examined in 1528 Korean adults, identifying 53 differentially methylated positions and 10 differentially methylated regions.

  • Machine learning classification achieved an area under the curve of 0.910, showing little improvement after including epigenetic age features.
