Immune-related molecular links between temporal lobe epilepsy and major depression revealed by combined data analysis

Updated

Abstract

A total of 372 differentially expressed genes were identified between temporal lobe epilepsy and major depressive disorder.

  • Nine shared gene modules were revealed through weighted gene co-expression network analysis.
  • Seven hub genes, including HTR7 and CDHR2, showed strong performance in diagnostic models.
  • Changes in immune cell populations were linked to key genes based on immune infiltration analysis.
  • Single-cell sequencing confirmed the expression of identified genes across different cell types.
  • Upadacitinib was identified as a potential therapeutic drug targeting the shared genes.
