A total of 5785 freshmen were studied over two years to examine the relationship between insomnia, resilience, and suicidality.

  • Insomnia symptoms and suicidality mutually predicted each other over time.
  • Resilience played a mediating role in the relationship between insomnia symptoms and suicidality.
  • The findings suggest that resilience may influence the impact of insomnia on suicidal thoughts.
  • The study highlights the importance of resilience-oriented interventions for university students at risk of suicide.
