Gene activity analysis of kidney filter cell damage caused by LMB2 reveals common inflammation and stress responses

Updated

Abstract

A total of 725 genes were identified as shared differentially expressed genes in response to podocyte injury.

  • 1,418 shared genes were found at Day 4 post-injury, indicating early inflammatory and stress-related responses.
  • 1,401 shared genes were identified at Day 7, showing an expanded response featuring extracellular matrix remodeling and sustained inflammation.
  • The transcriptional response at Day 7 included downregulation of autophagy-lysosome pathways and disruption of ER-to-Golgi trafficking.
  • Network analysis revealed regulatory modules centered around RELA, along with epigenetic and kinase-associated regulators.
  • The findings suggest a biphasic response to podocyte injury, initially adaptive and later maladaptive.
