Changes in Daily Rhythm Genes Pomc and Bmp4 Linked to Depression After Stroke

Updated

Abstract

Transcriptomic sequencing revealed that dysregulation of circadian entrainment genes is a central pathway in post-stroke depression.

  • Post-stroke depression may significantly hinder recovery and quality of life for stroke patients.
  • A reproducible model of post-stroke depression was established using minimally invasive techniques.
  • Six hub genes related to circadian rhythms were identified through protein-protein interaction network analysis.
  • Two of these genes, Pomc and Bmp4, showed consistent expression patterns with experimental validation.
  • Cell-type-specific expression abnormalities were observed for Pomc in endothelial cells and Bmp4 in oligodendrocytes.
  • Shared regulatory mechanisms identified involve cell adhesion and interactions with the extracellular matrix.
