Modified Zuojin formula may block low-oxygen signals that increase sugar use in chronic stomach inflammation

Updated

Abstract

MZJF treatment reduced stomach weight index and gastric acid pH while improving gastric mucosal pathology in a chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) rat model.

  • MZJF intervention improved gastric mucosal inflammation and cellular structure in CAG rats.
  • A total of 79 compounds in MZJF were found to target 203 molecules related to CAG.
  • Enrichment analysis linked core targets to the hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) signaling pathway.
  • Molecular docking indicated stable binding interactions between MZJF components and HIF-1α.
  • MZJF decreased gene and protein expression levels of HIF-1α and its downstream glycolytic regulators.
  • MZJF promoted apoptosis of gastric epithelial cells, indicated by increased markers of cell death.
