Abstract

Nine studies involving 712 participants were reviewed to assess thromboprophylaxis benefits in solid organ transplantation.

  • Seven studies focused on kidney transplant recipients, while studies also included liver transplant recipients.
  • Only two studies reported on graft vessel thrombosis in kidney transplantation, with a total of two cases observed.
  • Heparin may not significantly affect the rate of major bleeding events in kidney transplant recipients based on low certainty evidence.
  • The impact of heparin on various outcomes, including death and graft survival, remains unclear due to very low certainty evidence.
  • No evidence from randomized controlled trials supports the effectiveness of any antithrombotic therapy in liver, heart, lung, or other solid organ transplants.
  • Further research is needed to compare different anticoagulants and antiplatelet therapies in solid organ transplantation.
