Abstract
A 16-week supervised combined exercise program is associated with phenotype-specific biomarker changes in patients with fibromyalgia (FM), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), or their comorbidity (FM+IBS).
- Fibromyalgia and irritable bowel syndrome are linked through gut-brain axis dysregulation.
- Patients with FM, IBS, or FM+IBS may experience low-grade systemic inflammation.
- The exercise program's impact on specific biological markers was assessed in these patient groups.
