Ketamine infusions for hard-to-treat bipolar depression in a real-world study

Abstract

After seven infusions of IV ketamine, 61.5% of patients with showed a response.

  • Response and remission rates were 61.5% and 46.2%, respectively, after the seventh infusion.
  • A significant reduction in suicidality was noted among responders at this point.
  • The average time to achieve remission ranged from 21.1 to 23.2 days.
  • No significant differences in psychomimetic symptoms were found between responders and non-responders.
  • No serious adverse events were reported, although a transient increase in arterial blood pressure occurred.
