Juglanin may reduce lung damage from bleomycin by lowering inflammation and scarring through the STING immune pathway

Abstract

Juglanin treatment improved survival rates in a mouse model of bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis.

  • Jug-treated mice showed significantly reduced inflammation and neutrophil infiltration in lung tissues.
  • Lung vascular permeability and pro-inflammatory responses were markedly alleviated in Jug administration.
  • Key markers of fibrosis, such as TGF-β1, fibronectin, and collagen I, were significantly reduced in the presence of Jug.
  • Higher levels of Sting were observed in the lungs of BLM mice, which were lowered following Jug treatment.
  • In vitro studies indicated that reducing Sting levels could improve collagen accumulation triggered by TGF-β.
