Lanthionine Ketenamine Derivative May Improve Early Muscle Recovery After Blood Flow Injury by Regulating Cell Cleanup and Stress

Abstract

Treatment with 2-n-hexyl lanthionine ketenamine phosphonate significantly improved satellite cell viability and functional recovery after ischemia-reperfusion injury.

  • Ischemia-reperfusion injury causes skeletal muscle damage through oxidative stress and impaired satellite cell function.
  • 2-n-hexyl LKE-P treatment increased autophagy flux and satellite cell viability in vitro under oxidative stress conditions.
  • Under 500 µM hydrogen peroxide, 2-n-hexyl LKE-P restored satellite cell survival by nearly 63% compared to untreated conditions.
  • In vivo, animals treated with 2-n-hexyl LKE-P showed improved grip strength recovery from days 2 to 7 post-injury.
  • Molecular analysis indicated significant upregulation of autophagy regulators and antioxidant markers in treated animals.
