Abstract

Essence

Both leukocyte-poor and leukocyte-rich improved rabbit , and leukocyte-poor PRP lowered inflammatory cytokines more.

Evidence

This preclinical experiment used a papain-induced rabbit knee osteoarthritis model in 32 rabbits and compared 8-week histology, immunohistochemistry, pathology scores, and joint-fluid IL-1β and TNF-α after LP-PRP or LR-PRP injection.

Caveat

The evidence comes from an animal model, and LP-PRP did not significantly outperform LR-PRP on synovial or cartilage morphology or most other indices.
