Abstract

Light at night (LAN) may be associated with diabetic retinopathy (DR).

Exposure to LAN could increase the risk of developing DR.
Greenness may potentially modify the relationship between LAN exposure and DR risk.
The investigation addresses the impact of urbanization on health through light exposure.

Light at night (LAN), which has become an inevitable byproduct of rapid urbanization, may be associated with diabetic retinopathy (DR). We aimed to investigate the association between LAN exposure and the risk of DR, and explore the potential protective modifying effect of greenness on the LAN-DR association.
