Abstract
Apolipoprotein B100 mRNA levels were 2.42 times higher in 3-month-old apoE(-/-)/LDLR(-/-) mice compared to wild type mice.
- Significant increases in apolipoprotein B100 expression were observed at various ages in apoE(-/-)/LDLR(-/-) mice.
- Fatty acid transporter (FAT/CD36) mRNA levels were elevated in 14-day and 3-month-old apoE(-/-)/LDLR(-/-) mice.
- Apolipoprotein A IV and Apolipoprotein AV mRNA levels were significantly reduced in apoE(-/-)/LDLR(-/-) mice at certain ages.
- Serum total cholesterol, triglyceride, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels were markedly higher in apoE(-/-)/LDLR(-/-) mice than in wild type mice.
- Early atherosclerotic lesions were present in the aorta of apoE(-/-)/LDLR(-/-) mice, showing age-dependent progression.
