Analysis of 179 lipid metabolites indicates significant associations with five inflammatory skin diseases.

  • Glycerophospholipids may protect against pemphigus but increase risks for other inflammatory skin diseases.
  • Phosphatidylcholine (16:0_0:0) is associated with a 25% increased risk for lichen planus.
  • Glycerolipids show protective effects against pemphigus but may pose risks for other inflammatory conditions.
  • Triacylglycerol (46:2) is linked to a nearly two-fold increased risk for vitiligo.
  • Sphingomyelins do not affect atopic dermatitis but may increase risk for other inflammatory skin diseases.
  • Sphingomyelin (d40:1) is associated with a 91% increased risk for pemphigus.
