Understanding and Measuring Fatigue in Long COVID: A Review

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Long COVID research uses inconsistent definitions and mostly self-report measures, limiting comparability across studies.

Evidence

This JBI scoping review searched multiple databases from January 2020 to May 2023 and included 57 quantitative and qualitative studies of long COVID fatigue definitions or measurement tools.

Caveat

Only 21 of 57 studies defined fatigue, and the review maps measurement practice rather than testing fatigue mechanisms or interventions.
