Improvement of Long COVID and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Symptoms After Using Kanshoho, a Gentle Muscle Relaxation Method: A Case Report

Updated

Abstract

Fatigue visual analog scale (VAS) improved from 79 mm to 0 mm after 10 sessions of Kanshoho treatment over 2.5 months.

  • A 41-year-old woman experienced refractory symptoms after SARS-CoV-2 infection, including severe fatigue, pain, and cognitive dysfunction.
  • She was diagnosed with Long COVID and met criteria for myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS).
  • Despite previous treatments, her symptoms did not improve until the introduction of Kanshoho, a low-pressure muscle relaxation technique.
  • After treatment, her performance status improved from 7 to 0, and her Total Mood Disturbance score decreased significantly.
  • Although causality cannot be established from this single case, the results may suggest a potential benefit of Kanshoho for similar patients.
