Link between genetic differences in TMPRSS2 and Long COVID in Brazilian healthcare workers
Updated
Abstract
An association between brain fog and the genetic variant rs2070788 was identified in 363 Brazilian healthcare professionals.
- Long COVID syndrome may have multiple causes influenced by both external and intrinsic factors.
- Clinical variables such as increased susceptibility, presence of symptoms, and severity are associated with the occurrence of Long COVID.
- Females and young adults aged 18 to 29 years are identified as the most vulnerable to experiencing brain fog.
- The genetic variant rs2070788 shows a significant association with brain fog in the recessive model, particularly in symptomatic individuals post-COVID.
- The variant rs12329760 does not appear to have a relevant impact on the groups studied.
