Long Non-Coding RNA H19 May Protect Diabetic Mice Hearts from Blood Flow Damage Through Low-Oxygen Response Signaling

Updated

Abstract

H19 overexpression in diabetic mice improves cardiac function and reduces infarct size.

  • H19 expression in the hearts of diabetic mice after ischemia/reperfusion was significantly lower compared to normal mice.
  • Overexpression of H19 led to near-normal levels of left ventricular ejection fraction and fractional shortening.
  • H19 overexpression reduced infarct size and lowered serum levels of cardiac injury markers CK, CK-MB, and LDH.
  • H19 overexpression regulated the balance of autophagy markers and inhibited caspase-3 activity.
  • H19 functions as a competing RNA for miR-4735-3p, promoting the activation of the HIF-1 alpha signaling pathway.
