Abstract

Essence

Low-intensity constant light during early rat development produced lasting sex-specific changes in anxiety-like behavior and brain circadian gene regulation.

Evidence

This animal study exposed rat pups to 16 lx constant light from postnatal day 0 to 20, then measured behavior at day 60 and circadian gene expression and RNA editing across brain regions.

Caveat

The findings come from rat models with region- and sex-specific effects, so they do not establish human developmental or mental health outcomes.
