Low-intensity treadmill exercise improved motor, cognitive, inflammatory, and gut measures in a rat model of Parkinson's disease.

Evidence

This was a 10-week preclinical 6-OHDA-lesioned rat experiment testing 15- or 30-minute daily treadmill exercise with behavioral, dopaminergic-neuron, cytokine, gut-barrier, and microbiota readouts.

Caveat

The findings come from an induced rat model and mechanistic markers, so they do not show clinical benefit for people with Parkinson's disease.
