LSD changes brain wave patterns in memory and thinking areas of male mice

Updated

Abstract

Following 30 µg/kg LSD administration, there was a global decrease in power spectral density (PSD) signal power in the ventral hippocampus of freely-moving mice.

  • LSD administration resulted in reduced signal power across both broadband and discrete narrow band oscillatory rhythms in the CA1 and CA3 regions of the ventral hippocampus.
  • Similar but less pronounced decreases in PSD were observed in the somatosensory and medial prefrontal cortices.
  • The results align with existing clinical neurophysiology data regarding LSD's effects.
  • Increased variance in PSD signal power between subjects suggests that LSD may exert individual-specific effects.
