Ways to Measure How Caenorhabditis elegans Resist Different Types of Stress

Updated

Abstract

C. elegans survival is monitored under four different stress conditions to evaluate stress resistance capabilities.

  • Different stressors, including heat, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondrial, and oxidative stress, are tested on C. elegans.
  • Survival rates are tracked hourly or daily to compare stress resistance among different C. elegans strains.
  • Increases in stress doses are systematically applied to determine variations in stress resistance.
  • A neuron-ablated strain of C. elegans is compared to a wild-type strain to assess the impact of neural structure on stress resistance.
  • The methods allow for the identification of molecular and neural mechanisms associated with stress responses across various conditions.
