Factors linking gut bacteria and Alzheimer's disease using genetic analysis

Updated

Abstract

Ten types of gut microbiota were causally associated with Alzheimer's disease, with seven increasing and three decreasing the risk.

  • The study identified a causal link between gut microbiota and Alzheimer's disease.
  • CD45 on Mo MDSC was found to mediate 21.89% of the effect of class Actinobacteria on Alzheimer's disease.
  • The cortisol to taurocholate ratio mediated 18.35% of the effect of genus Lactococcus on Alzheimer's disease.
  • Beta-hydroxyisovalerate and glycodeoxycholate levels mediated 10.56% and 16.22% of the effects of class Betaproteobacteria, respectively.
