Menstrual cycle patterns and night shift work in nurses

Abstract

Fifteen percent of female nurses reported irregular menstruations.

  • Thirty-nine percent of the participating nurses were identified as having shift work disorder (SWD).
  • No associations were found between night work and irregular menstruations.
  • Cycle length and bleeding duration did not show any relationship with night work parameters.
  • Menstrual characteristics showed no significant links to SWD.
