Abstract

Treatment with mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes or exercise significantly improved cardiac function and structure in a rat model of myocardial infarction.

  • Exosomes and exercise both reduced cardiac enzyme elevation, oxidative stress, and inflammation associated with myocardial infarction.
  • The combination of exosomes and exercise led to substantial improvements in cardiac function and structure compared to individual treatments.
  • Both treatments were linked to decreased degenerative changes in cardiac muscle, including fibrosis and apoptosis.
  • The combined approach also resulted in enhanced angiogenesis and modulation of specific cellular signaling pathways.
