Metabolite-based biological clock predicts death and age-related diseases in Canadian adults

Updated

Abstract

Essence

A metabolomic Sweet Spot Clock was linked to mortality and age-related disease risk beyond chronological age.

Evidence

This biomarker modeling study trained a penalized regression clock on untargeted metabolomics from Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging participants aged 45-85 years and tested associations with mortality, age-related diseases, and an independent cohort aged 85 years and older.

Caveat

Although predictive after adjustment, its added value over standard health and demographic measures was modest.
