Metabolic profiles of long-lived mice using NMR analysis

Updated

Abstract

Concentrations of mobile very low density lipoproteins, trimethylamine, and choline were significantly decreased in the plasma of all three long-lived murine models.

  • Three long-lived murine models were studied: dietary restricted (DR), insulin receptor substrate 1 null (Irs1-/-), and Ames dwarf (Prop1df/df).
  • Significant reductions in metabolites such as glucose, choline, and various lipids were observed in the plasma of these models compared to controls.
  • Increased levels of acetoacetate, d-3-hydroxybutyrate, and trimethylamine-N-oxide were noted in the DR model relative to ad libitum fed controls.
  • Distinct metabolic differences were identified between the three long-lived models, suggesting varying metabolic signatures associated with longevity.
  • Candidate biomarkers that may indicate longevity were directionally altered across all three models, highlighting potential differences in metabolic networks.
